Sidonie Henbest is a lyrico-dramatic soprano noted for her versatility and presence. Her roles include: Leonora (Il Trovatore), Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte) and Vitellia (La Clemenza di Tito).
In 2015, she made her operatic debut for Co-Opera – Australia’s Opera on the Move company, and has subsequently toured regional and outback Australia in their productions of Cosi fan tutte, The Magic Flute and The Mikado, as well as Il Trovatore and La clemenza di Tito for their Intermezzo Series in Adelaide.
Sidonie is a member of the State Opera of South Australia, and has appeared in Tosca, Gounod’s Faust and the Verdi Requiem for the company. Upcoming engagements include A Night of Grand Opera By the Lake at Glen Ewin Estate, and Die Fledermaus for SOSA.
In 2017 she was part of Barrie Kosky’s acclaimed production of SAUL for the Adelaide Festival of Arts/Glyndebourne, and toured Eugene Onegin for Co-Opera.
Sidonie undertook her initial musical training at the Elder Conservatorium and has pursued extensive professional development across the breath of her craft. Last year she attended the National Opera Studio’s Opera Intensive in Stagecraft.
Sidonie is honoured to have given Australian premieres of notable contemporary chamber works, including Peter Eötvös’ Natasha (based on his opera Three Sisters) accompanied by Soundstream Collective. RealTime described her as “dynamic in the demanding vocal role”.
As well as appearing in main stage opera, Sidonie performs extensively as a cabaret and concert artist.
